A Workshop with Maureen Mills
Posted on May 16, 2012 at 7:47 PM |
A Workshop with Maureen Mills “From Ordinary to Extraordinary: Working with Slips and Resists” was the title of the Maureen Mills workshop. It was presented by Southern Arizona Clay Artists (SACA), held on April 28 and 292012 at the Kino Community Center Tucson AZ. Maureen’s Friday night presentation on April 27 gave the crowd of SACA members a preview of her winning personality, passion for the work and the degree of excellence we where to expect in the two day workshop. Mills brought nothing ordinary to the workshop. Her work was fabulous, each piece finished to perfection. The techniques she shared ignited a spirit of adventure to try something new. A few of her secrets were; the importance of using the right tools, working in a series and taking the time to use the appropriate techniques to develop a design. The students couldn’t get enough of it, slip trailing, brush strokes, sgraffito, wax resist, stamping, using stencils Maureen’s way. These innovative ways of working with slips and resists gave everyone courage to go farther than ever before and motivation for future experimentation.
